A Not So Funny Story... Because I Am Not Laughing Yet!

So yesterday while I was feeding Hunter, Ella said she needed to use the bathroom. No big deal, Ella can go to the bathroom on her own now, so I did not think much about it. Well about 15 minutes later I noticed that it was very quiet and that she was still in the bathroom. So I decided to check on her at see what she is up to. When I saw her she was covered in her play lip gloss, and she had some brushes out. Okay I think, not too bad, but then I notice that the tube of toothpaste that I just opened that morning was completely gone! I asked her in a very loud voice, "Did you eat all of the toothpaste?" and she said, "yeah mama". So I repeated my question a few more times just to make sure that she really ate all of the toothpaste. Well I decided that I should probably call the doctor and make sure that she was not in any danger. So strangely, my doctor's office does not answer, there is no voicemail, message service, or anything! So then I decide to call our old doctor from Alamo, thinking at least I could talk to the advice nurse... voicemail! Hello where are all of the doctors? It is 3:00 on a Wednesday! Anyway I get a hold of Mike who gets a hold of a pediatric dentist and I tell him what has happened. He asks me if there is any fluoride in this toothpaste, so I read the bottle and find out that there is no fluoride in this toothpaste, which he responds, "You are very lucky".
He then explains that had there been fluoride, we would have a very different problem and we would have had to go right to the emergency room.
Well Ella is fine and she did not get sick or anything, so we are very lucky, but for anyone that has a child that might possibly want to eat toothpaste, make sure that it does not have any fluoride in it, or at the very least keep it away from the kids (we moved ours up high... very high).

Where Does The Time Go?

Last week Ella decided she wanted to help me bake some cookies. So we pulled out her step stool and her special cooking utensils and went to work. She was really helpful and she enjoyed pouring in the ingredients and mixing the dough, but her favorite part was getting to lick the beaters!
Ella is growing up so fast and I cannot believe how different she is at 2 1/2 as opposed to when she turned 2. She is such a big girl now and she loves doing things on her own, she also loves make believe and using her imagination.  She is so much fun to be with and she always makes me laugh. Her newest thing is to ask me "why" at least 10,000 times a day and "huh?" almost as often. She also copies everything I say and repeats back to me what I am telling her. So the other day I asked her, "Ella are you copying me?" and she said, "no mama". So then I asked her if she knew what copying was and she replied, "Yeah, when you go 'cough cough cough'."
It is times like this that entertain me the most and I know I will miss it so much when she loses her cute little voice and the funny way she pronounces certain words (she calls a horse a "foot") and just the overall funny things she does and says.
Everyone told me time would fly and that the kids would grow up so fast. I did not believe this, but now I am starting to see what they meant!

Ella Is Potty Trained!

Hooray! Ella is finally potty trained. This is big news in our house and we are so excited that she has decided to be a big girl. It all started Last Saturday when Ella thought it would be fun to undress all of her dolls, and then she thought it would be even more fun to put them all in diapers. Now we have a lot of dolls, there must have been at least 9 babies wearing diapers, so this process took a good half hour if not longer. Well I am not sure if this has anything to do with the actual potty training but the next day Ella said she wanted to wear her panties and she has not been back in diapers since (except for bed time and long car trips to Idaho Falls). She now uses the potty when ever she feels she needs to and then she washes her hands and gets a sticker. I am so glad we waited until she was ready because it was so easy and not nearly as traumatic as it had been the last time we tried potty training. I guess Ella is determined to teach me that she has to do things on her own time line and she will not be rushed!

Ella's New Tricycle

We decided to get Ella a tricycle because she loves to be outside and always wants things to do while we are out there. She was doing really great although she got frustrated easily when she could not get the peddling down. She also insisted on wearing the helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads ( which she wore every day even before she had a tricycle).

Ella Has a Green Thumb

Mike recently bought 4 small trees for our yard, and Ella loves to help water them. Every day she waits for "Michael" to come home so she can go outside and "do the trees".
We love summers here in Rexburg, it is so beautiful and it stays light until 10:00. Those pictures were taken at almost 7:00 and it is not even close to getting dark. It has great weather and right now as I am writing this, we are enjoying an awesome lighting storm!
